I'm just kidding! I wanted to apologize to you guys for debuting an article with so many errors yesterday. The errors have since been corrected. I have “pregnancy brain,” and lately, typing has been significantly more cognitively challenging for me to execute than verbal communication. I never wanted to admit this publicly, but it’s apparent that my writing across multiple platforms is noticeably worse.
I don’t have anything else to say. Still, I thought this would be a fun, quick blurb to direct you guys to a video on matrescence in the brain, which you can watch HERE, and an article on neurological changes in the brain during pregnancy, which you can read HERE. There are plenty of neurological changes going on due to hormones, but blood flow is also a key factor to consider regarding cognitive function as well. Blood and oxygen that would usually go to my brain when not pregnant are being diverted to the baby I am growing1.
If you are a husband to an expecting wife, you may want to watch the video and read the article linked above to see your wife is not foolin’… She actually might be cognitively slower than her pre-pregnancy self. That’s normal!
Do I think some women overemphasize pregnancy brain? Possibly. But I can say for sure that my husband has told me flat out that if he didn’t know me and didn’t know I was pregnant, he would think I had actual cognitive decline.
Anyway, I’m sorry for the errors.
Thanks for reading and subscribing regardless, and enjoy the resources linked above.
If it gets worse, I’ll look into hiring an editor. I have one on standby.
Feel free to drop any general pregnancy questions about women below!
They rightfully deserve all my blood, oxygen, love, and IQ points btw.
Definitely a thing. Make sure to check for misplaced items like the TV remote and socks in the fridge.
